Discover the Hidden Coastal Sanctuary of El Salvador

El Zonte offers an escape for those seeking understated beauty and connection with nature. With its pristine beaches and a community that values authenticity, this charming village invites visitors to slow down and savor the rhythm of the Pacific. Beyond the surf, El Zonte is a place to immerse yourself in local culture and witness the seamless blend of nature, beauty and tranquility.

The Origin of Al Suave

20 years ago, Mateo set out from Jersey City, New Jersey, to Costa Rica. His goal? Surf. But a recommendation led him to El Salvador, a destination often overlooked. There, he found unspoiled beaches with world-class waves, kind people, and no tourists. He never reached Costa Rica.On his way through El Salvador, he happened upon El Zonte, or as the locals called it, Pueblo Loco (Crazy Town).

There, Mateo found a community with dreams, a mix between locals and people who were drawn to the area to surf. He immediately connected with the community, and, a few weeks later, he found a piece of property, which he bought on the spot. That would become the site of Al Suave, built to reflect that spirit of dreaming, kindness, and discovery that had first drawn him to the area.
